Hip pain is a common and disabling condition that affects patients of all ages. Determining the correct diagnosis is the key to attaining the best treatment.
The differential diagnosis of hip pain is broad, presenting a diagnostic challenge. Hip pain is localized to one of three anatomic regions: the anterior hip and groin, the posterior hip and buttock, or the lateral hip.
⦁ Anterior Hip & Groin Pain: Is commonly associated with intra-articular pathology, such as: osteoarthritis, femoroacetabular impingement, fractures, and hip labral tears.
⦁ Posterior Hip Pain: Is associated with piriformis syndrome, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, lumbar radiculopathy, facet joint arthritis, and less commonly ischiofemoral impingement and vascular claudication.
⦁ Lateral Hip Pain: Occurs with greater trochanteric pain syndrome and muscle strains/tears.
The Revive Spine and Pain team will correctly diagnose the source of your hip pain. If you are suffering from hip pain, call the office or schedule an appointment online today.
Once your correct diagnosis is established, The Revive Spine and Pain team will create a customized plan for you. If the source of pain is determined to be from within the hip, treatment may include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physical therapy, and temporarily modifying your activities. Trochanteric bursa injections may be offered if you have bursitis and rest/NSAIDs aren’t effective.
We also offer cutting edge regenerative medicine treatments to help heal damaged tissues, restore function, and delay degenerative processes like arthritis. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains growth factors that accelerate healing and trigger new tissue growth. Stem cell therapy can produce new healthy cells to repair and replace damaged ones. The Revive Spine and Pain team may offer intraarticular steroid injections, PRP treatment alone or in conjunction with stem cell therapy as an option.
